Trust - Day 74

Psalms is the Bible’s songbook. Instead of hymns and choruses, the Israelites had psalms. And the book of Psalms is full of verses about trust. The psalmists must have known something about the importance of trust. Based on how many of his psalms mention trust, King David must have had a good bit of experience trusting God.

Yes, David had a lot of experience trusting God, not because his life was so wonderful and perfect, but because he went through so many circumstances where life looked bleak! Political uprisings, foreign wars, disrespectful and disobedient children – even his own sins. Even when David was trusting God, bad things still happened.

The Bible calls David a man after God’s own heart, as described in Acts 13:22. One of the main reasons for that must be that David never gave up trusting God, even when bad things happened. God always came through for him in the end, and so David continued trusting God. God will always come through for us too, and so we must trust Him in everything.

Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.
Psalm 9:10

In you, Lord my God, I put my trust.
Psalm 25:1

But I trust in you, Lord; I say, ‘You are my God.’
Psalm 31:14

In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.
Psalm 33:21

Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord…
Psalm 40:4

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise – in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?
Psalm 56:3-4
