Unity - Day 96

Everyone has different gifts and talents, just as every instrument has a different range and timbre. Sometimes there are multiple people who have the same gifts (or instruments), and they need to work especially closely together, but we can’t, all by ourselves, meet the needs of everyone or give everyone the full attention they need. A single musician cannot play the entire symphony by themselves. Each member of the church has to do their own part, and carry their own share of the work. And they need to realize that their own work isn’t the only work happening. Different members have the melody at different times.

In the passage below, Paul was speaking about Jews and Gentiles getting along together. But we can use his same words when considering different denominations, or even just different groups within our same church. By sharing our belief in Jesus, we can overcome cultural, philosophical, religious, physical, and any other differences. As a united body, we can then jointly praise God and teach non-believers of the love of Jesus.

For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility.
Ephesians 2:14-16
