Patience - Day 50

God knows our lives are short. Yet He still tells us to be patient and to wait on Him. He knows that being patient and doing things the right way, while seeming too slow, actually saves us a lot of wasted time and effort.

I was practicing the piano once when suddenly a terrible, scratchy, percussive noise sounded each time I pressed a key. I began to fear the worst, that a string had broken, or some other crucial part of the piano had failed. With wide eyes, I stood and looked into the interior of the piano – and found a piece of paper had fallen onto the strings. Once I removed the paper, the piano went back to normal. It happened again many times in the future - sometimes a pencil fell, or a paperclip landed on the strings – but I knew right away to check for a fallen object first thing. Patiently checking all along the strings for even a small object always fixed the problem.

Sometimes being patient makes our troubles dissipate with a lot less effort than we fear. God will help us fix our lives when we are patient enough to let Him. He knows our lives are short – yet He has plans for every single moment of our lives! Trust God, submit to Him, and He will direct our paths in the best way possible.

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
Psalm 139:13-16.
